Faro itself has plenty to offer visitors, while the colourful Tavira is a good base for an excursion to the lagoons of Eastern Algarve and Lagos provides a wonderful base from which to enjoy the south-western beaches of the Algarve .

Inland from the coast, the towns are quieter whilst still offering plenty local colour to the visitor and Monchique's great beauty providing a great place for walking.
